Introduction
The client was managing two separate eCommerce platforms built independently, which over time led to rising maintenance costs, duplicated features, and limitations on future system development.
The main goal of the project was a full migration to Magento Open Source, along with simplifying the complex two-instance setup by consolidating everything into a single, unified solution and optimizing it into a very fast and efficient Iskra/Sparq platform based on Magento Open Source.
We completed the entire process in about 14 weeks, preserving all key store functionalities and ensuring uninterrupted daily operations throughout the transition.
Project Goals & Challenges
-
Full migration to Magento Open Source
-
Consolidation of two stores based in separate instances into one shared system, including data transfer, different configurations, and business rules
-
Ensuring continuity of integrations and business processes with zero downtime and uninterrupted store availability
-
Preparing the platform for future growth and development
-
Auditing, adapting, and consolidating over 130 third-party and custom modules from two different environments
-
Replacing key functionalities (including Shared Catalog) with custom solutions or alternative modules
-
Integration with ERP, PIM, and BaseLinker systems, including API adjustments to the new architecture
-
Implementation of a modern frontend based on Hyvä (see the demo: getsparq.store) alongside the classic Luma theme
Technology Stack
-
Magento 2 Open Source - eCommerce platform for building and developing online stores
-
PHP 8.3, MySQL - application logic layer and relational database management system
-
Elasticsearch, Redis - full-text search, caching, and performance optimization
-
Hyvä (based on getsparq.store) + Luma - a modern, high-performance frontend (Hyvä) with simultaneous support and compatibility for the classic Luma-based theme
Accessibility and UX in the Hyvä-Based Store
The shop.tytan.com store was built using our custom solution ISKRA, developed on top of Hyvä (The Sparq for Rapid Hyvä eCommerce). This approach allowed us to create a modern, fast, and user-friendly interface. From the very beginning, our goal was to ensure the platform was not only visually appealing, but above all compliant with accessibility standards (WCAG) and convenient for everyday use, both for customers and for the team managing the store.
We ensured proper contrast and full compliance with WCAG guidelines, making the store accessible to a broad range of users, including those with special needs. The platform is fully responsive, delivering a consistent and comfortable experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
Performance was another key focus area. The Hyvä-based frontend guarantees fast page loading and smooth operation, directly impacting user satisfaction and sales performance.
From the administrative perspective, the store offers extensive content management capabilities. The client’s team can easily edit content, expand informational sections, or modify page layouts without involving a technical team.
A clear setup of categories, product listings, and filters helps users find what they’re looking for quickly. Navigation is intuitive, making it easy and natural to move through the store.
The result is a modern platform that combines accessibility, high performance, and genuine user convenience.
Project Outcomes
Single, High-Performance
eCommerce Platform
By combining two previous instances and migrating, our team delivered a single, high-performance, and easy to maintain eCommerce platform.
Simplified Architecture & Reduced Maintenance Costs
We simplified the entire technology environment, significantly reducing maintenance costs while maintaining full compatibility with ERP, PIM, and BaseLinker systems.
Stable, Future-Ready
Foundation
As part of the integration and customization work, we addressed over 130 existing modules from both instances, adapting them to operate on the new platform. This ensured the solution is stable, flexible, and ready for future development.
Lower TCO and Faster Time-to-Market
Streamlined architecture reduces maintenance costs while enabling quicker deployment of new features.
Scalability and Improved Performance
The platform is designed to handle growing traffic and product range, ensuring fast load times and smooth user experience.
Enhanced SEO Capabilities
Frontend and structural optimizations support better visibility in search engines.
As a result, Selena Sp. z o.o. can now easily scale its stores, introduce new functionalities, and focus on running the business - confident that the platform operates efficiently and reliably.
